Testimonials
Thanks so much to Kit for writing a book that relives the spirit and memories of Camp Lightfoot. All of us that shared that experience appreciate this beautiful gift. However, one of the great parts of the book was learning the early days of the camp as well as the relationship between Carl and Kit Mack. This is a treasure that every camper should own and cherish.

Hello Ms. Mack,
Received your shipment of books this morning by mail. Thank you! Just a quick perusal reminds me of so much pleasure and maybe a tear or two of an 8 y.o. so many years ago when his parents drove away after a Sunday visit. I'm sure there remains a special bond among "Campers" who learned their first crafts or how to swim as I did. The stories do rekindle memories as I can almost trace the steps to the Council Circle or the Greenbrier River swimming platform and banks. I can almost relive the "Agony of Defeat" of falling in the three legged or sack race in the field day competitions. There were many big, bad phobias faced down at Camp Lightfoot by many of us who attended one or five different summers at ages 8-12 y.o. It's such a pleasure to support your efforts and I know family and friends will relive their past exploits as well.
Thank you again and God Bless.
All the best,
-Tom Dallas, TX
I had wanted to write something about the book, but wasn't able to find anywhere to send it to. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed reading this book. I know it has become my new favorite. It brought tears of joy to my eyes, I could smell the food at the mess hall, hear the kids getting ready to stand in line, even hear the sounds of everyone in the
mess hall eating, silverware clanging and singing. Written so well, it made it easy to go right back those 30 plus years for me. To take me back to my most favorite place. This was the place that Carl Mack made for me, a place that I felt complete and just plain ok with who I was.
Not only did I get to go back all those years and relive my memories, but I also learned about camp, things I never knew. Who started it all, and why, and I finally got to know why things were named and who they were named for. This book gets a really big HOW HOW from me!

I finished the book last night and I want to tell you (as someone who has written for and edited many books) it was absolutely terrific, exactly what I hoped for. Well written, captures what was/is special about CTEL. Thanks so much for doing it.

Catherine, Thank you so much for writing this book. It is bringing back so many happy memories of my childhood and the time I spent at Camp Lightfoot. We were very fortunate children to have a place like Camp Lightfoot to spend our summers.

Thank you so much for writing your book on Camp Thomas E. Lightfoot. You did a wonderful job.I can honestly say those were the happiest times of my youth. Those camp days are so special to me because of the people who touched my life. I'm happy to say that Carl Mack was one of those special people. He never tried to be anyone but himself and that alone was what made him special. He always watched out for Eva and me as a big brother would and always encouraged us to keep singing. Memories of Camp Lightfoot will always linger in my mind and I will treasure those days always. Thank you for including all the camp songs - but especially for keeping our camp memories alive.

Dear Kit:
Thank you so much for the signed copy of Memories That Linger. We appreciate the "blood, sweat, and tears" you put into making Camp Lightfoot's legacy a lasting one. It is evident that it was a labor of love...a love shared by many. We're enjoying every word and discovering many new facts (especially about the early years). Even tho we rarely get back to WV, Camp will always have a special place in our hearts, as will you and Carl!
